Release 10.1A: OpenEdge Application Server:
Administration

Configuring the Sonic Management Console (SMC) for OpenEdge services manually

If you installed OpenEdge on a machine other than the one on which Sonic ESB and SonicMQ are installed, you must complete this procedure to allow the Sonic Management Console (SMC) to administer the OpenEdge services properly.

To configure the SMC manually:

  1. Copy the directory OpenEdge-Install-Directory/esbadapter from your OpenEdge host to SonicESB-Install-Directory on the Sonic ESB host.
  2. Note: The esbadapter directory is platform specific.

  3. If it does not exist, create a subdirectory called setenv in SonicESB-Install-Directory/bin.
  4. To make Sonic ESB execute the environment script on startup, copy the environment scripts from the SonicESB-Install-Directory/config (openedge_env.bat or openedge_env.sh) to SonicESB-Install-Directory/bin/setenv.
  5. Note: openedge_env.bat (in Windows) and openedge_env.sh (on UNIX).

  6. In the directory SonicESB-Install-Directory/bin/setenv, edit the appropriate environment scripts:
    1. Delete the string -Dcom.progress.openedge.home=[[install-dir]] from the first line of the file.
    2. Replace the string [[install-dir]] with the SonicESB-Install-Directory path name in the second line of the file.
    3. Save the file.
  7. Copy the OpenEdgeSrvType.properties file from the SonicESB-Install-Directory/esbadapter/config directory to the SonicESB-Install-Directory/explorer/ext/serviceType directory.
  8. Edit the OpenEdgeSrvType.properties file:
    1. Replace the string [[install-dir]] with the SonicESB-Install-Directory path name.
    2. Save the file.
